DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new vehicle tunnel connecting Dubai-Al Ain Road with Oud Metha Service Road.

The opening forms part of the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street Development Project.

The new link is designed to improve traffic movement and reduce vehicle weaving along the route.

Traffic link

The 260-metre-long tunnel has one lane and can accommodate up to 1,200 vehicles per hour. It serves traffic travelling from Dubai-Al Ain Road towards Oud Metha Service Road, helping address traffic overlaps between the two routes.

The tunnel is among the infrastructure upgrades being delivered under the wider street development project, aimed at improving connectivity and traffic movement in the area.

Wider upgrades

RTA said the development supports its ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of Dubai’s road network and provide smoother and more convenient journeys for motorists.

The authority said the project also contributes to a more integrated mobility network across Dubai, with improvements designed to support traffic flow and enhance movement between key roads.
